Head of Automation

As Head of Automation, your duties will include: 


Key Tasks and Accountabilities

Core Tasks

· Create and lead the teams to deliver automation of business functions where it makes commercial sense to do so in line with the business objectives set down by the Virtual1 Board

·  Be accountable for the success of automating all product lines through the       entire lifecycle, through APIs and portals

·Effectively communicate the progress to stakeholders, peers and the Senior Leadership Team

·Ensure delivered automation functionality is operational, fit for purpose and available for the duration necessary

· Manage the relationship with third-party developers and other service    providers to get best value

·Provide and demonstrate best practice in identifying, qualifying, defining and delivering automation for the benefit of Virtual1 and our partners

· Grow and maintain the functionality provided by 1Portal, APIs available to customers and the BECS SDN platform.

 

Essential Criteria 

· Ability to communicate to all levels within the organisation

·  Demonstrable experience of a structured planning and implementation approach, preferably Project Management or a Formal Software Development methodology

· Experience of managing technical teams in a rapidly-growing environment

·Ability to discern and disseminate functional business objectives and translate into effective software development activity

· Able to work under own initiative to manage formal organisational structures and self-organising teams

·  Results-driven

 

Desirable Criteria

· Software development experience

·  Broad interest in software development languages and methodologies

· Good Presentation skills

 

Travel requirements

· UK wide and occasional Overseas visits to suppliers as needed
