Layer 2

Network management has been simplified by the advent of Ethernet technology. It is now easier for businesses to run a complicated Wide Area Network using the same access technology and infrastructure already deployed for their Local Area Networks.

Any-to-any connectivity

The Virtual1 Layer 2 solution enables geographically dispersed sites to share an Ethernet broadcast domain by connecting sites through pseudo-wires. Virtual1’s Layer-2  solution allows different configurations such as E-line, E-LAN, E-tree, E-access.  Available across the UK, Layer 2 makes it easy to connect geographically dispersed locations – thus improving both internal communications and productivity.

Robust network

Dedicated bandwidth, backed up by rigorous SLAs, ensures high speed and reliable connectivity. The resilience of the Virtual1 Layer 2 solution is further enhanced by dynamic routing, which automatically redirects core network traffic in the event of a network outage – resulting in minimal disruption to your customer’s business.

Minimal upfront investment

By using or upgrading their existing LAN infrastructure and directly connecting it to the WAN, customers can achieve significant cost reductions. Plus, as in-house staff will already be familiar with the technology, investment in additional training is not required. Partners who sell and manage LAN switches can add value if they want to manage the customer network. One key advantage to them of this technology is that they no longer need to co-ordinate IP address changes with the carrier as they would with MPLS.  Realtime changes are achievable in Layer 2 adding further value to the solution.

Complete flexibility

Access speeds range from 2Mb up to 10Gb, with bandwidth upgrades available in small increments in line with business growth. Your customers therefore only pay for what they need – when they need it.
